Testing the Waters of Virtual Reality

Read about something long enough and you start to assume that everyone is doing/using it. Such is the case with virtual reality (VR) which seems to be all the rage these days. But a recent study indicates that while 55 percent of teachers responding expect to use VR at some point in the future, only 23 percent have, to date. Is virtual reality a reality in your classrooms?

For many teachers, especially those just starting to test the waters of virtual reality, virtual field trips are a natural, engaging, and easy-to-implement means of introducing students to this technology. That can be a good starting point, but there are many other ways in which virtual reality can boost learning at both the K-12 and higher ed levels of education.
