Our take

What IT Concerns Are Keeping You Up at Night?

Security is becoming a bigger issue on campuses–and in K-12 school systems. As technology becomes more prevalent and data is increasingly captured and stored, information privacy and system vulnerability issues are front and center. EDUCAUSE recently released a list of the Top Ten IT Issues facing the industry and pointed to the need for IT professionals to prioritize school security issues to ensure that budgets are used effectively. What issues are at the top of your list?

EDUCAUSE’s Top Ten list includes: information security, optimizing educational technology, student success technologies, IT workforce, institutional data management, IT funding models, business intelligence and analytics, enterprise application integration, IT organizational development and e-learning. It’s interesting that e-learning is last on the list and that security is front and center. This is a good starting point for discussions in your school system about how you would rank your priorities and what you might add to this list.
