3 Things People Can Do In The Classroom That Robots Can't

There are at least three big skill sets that human intelligence copes well with. Skills that technology — like artificial intelligence — is currently struggling with and may always struggle with.

Hugs Are For Humans

Yes, technology is emerging to do amazing, wonderful and practical things. But, there are some things that humans may always be better able to do than robots. This authors refers to these things as “giving a hug, solving a mystery, telling a story.” What implications do the job skills of the future have for what you’re teaching students now?

There are certain skill sets that will likely always require a human touch. Still, studies are indicating that many of the jobs we have today aren’t likely to around in the not so distant future. While we can’t predict what the new jobs will be, we can focus on some of the innately human traits discussed here to help students be prepared to collaborate, problem find and make ethical decisions. Viewing technology as a collaborator versus a competitor allows teachers to leverage the best of the tools available to enhance classroom teaching and learning.
