Our take

New Resources to Drive STEAM Learning in K-12

A group of business, industry, government and education leaders have come together to create a framework for the teaching of computer science concepts in grades K-12, broken out into four bands (K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and high school). Could their insights and perspectives help to provide a starting point for curriculum development in your district?

These leaders recognize that schools are likely to be at varying stages of computer science teaching. Their intent is not to create rigid standards, but to provide guidance and resources to ensure that children are gaining early insights into important computer science concepts. STEAM must become a top priority in the nation’s K-12 classrooms. Fortunately new resources to help make that happen are emerging.
