Lenovo, Google, and Qualcomm Technologies are working closely together to optimize the software and hardware to ensure consumers get the most out of the Project Tango platform.

Our take

Are You Ready to Tango?

There’s a new app store coming to town! With the recent announcement by Google, Qualcomm Technologies and Lenovo of the introduction of Project Tango—a 3D, virtual world that works indoors as well as in the great outdoors, allowing users to explore spaces around them that could include retail stores, and classrooms. Project Tango is soliciting submissions from app developers to populate the app store that will serve Lenovo’s new smartphone. What might this innovation mean for education?

Project Tango blends the virtual with the real world, offering opportunities for students—and teachers—to explore space and potentially apply science and math concepts to virtual exploration. It will certainly be interesting to watch what innovations creative app developers may come up with. The deadline is February 16.
